W W Baker Esq

Dear Sir/madam

in reply to yours of the 20 for
My opinion in regard to
intimidation being usc ccxcxcxxced
by the white People to prevent
the Negroes from Exercising
there right of Suffrage in the
late Election, I will Say. That I
never Saw more freedom exercised
at the Poles than I saw at Midlothian
on the day of Election. Every one,
both white & Colored, Seemed at
perfect liberty to Vote as they
pleased. The Election was as
quiet and orderly as any I
ever attended.
