Description

SSgt William Voght served in the US Army from 1942-1944 in the Pacific where he flew 59 combat missions as a gunner on B-24s. By the end of the war, he had earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal and Southwest Pacific campaign ribbon with two stars, earned with the Fifth AAF.

Voght wrote this letter home early in his training days at Gunnery School, Harlingen, Texas.
